City officials in Santa Ana, California, approved the latest, 37-story iteration of a project from developer Michael Harrah that has been in the works for 20 years, the Orange County Register reports. With one councilwoman objecting, the move came as Harrah added up to 415 residences to a plan that includes offices and commercial space at 1109 North Broadway. If built, One Broadway Plaza will be the tallest building in Orange County. Proponents said the tower would create much-needed jobs for laborers hit hard by the coronavirus economic fallout and signal the city’s rebirth, while opponents pointed to concerns about increased traffic and noise.
